This is a story of two extraordinary gentlemen

Mr. Vijay Kumar Saboo & Mr. Zurvan Marolia

Who believe age is just a number and it’s never too late, if you’re passionate about something….

Here are two motorcycle enthusiasts, rediscovering their passion for bikes. From hard core manufacturing background, both rode the same brand of motorcycle in their youth before transitioning through various sedans. Alas, the sedans were good only for the commute while they sought adventure in their daily work life.

Professional challenges and success drove them through the journey so far and passion for bikes continued to simmer deep in their minds.

Given these facts, the dream to ride a bike should have blurred with every added candle on the cake. But old passions die hard. There were moments of dreams and a comfort that the right time would come. Some day!

Destiny drove each of them to bring back the bike magic to rev up their routine lives.

Currently on the mature end of 50s, the two have been thumping the roads with their newly acquired Enfield’s.

Vijay, closer to ‘finicky at sixty’ had the awakening after a major medical procedure. There may not be that ‘some time’ and that if it was to be, it was now. He prepared his bucket list with riding a Royal Enfield at the top. A chest binder on the upper torso, he set out looking for one. Was it easy? Not at all. He was laughed at and advised to grow up. All ridiculed or discouraged him except his better half, Sunita, who encouraged him to live life at his own terms.

Friends were frank- some wished him safe riding while others expressed ‘I too wanted one but ‘sochtey hi rah gaye’’.

The younger of the duo is Zurvan, from the next door neighbourhood thrice removed. Originally a SoBo boy, he has his own passions as a true Parsi. A successful professional moving up the corporate ladder, always knowing what he wants. Would not be out of place to mention that he went striding the roads in Mumbai Marathon, back to back, for two years.

What next? He happened to spot the Classic going on sale and was first to stake his claim on it. Should add that his decision was also driven by his wife Navita, who has been a rider herself. With better and expensive options within their reach, they said ‘the thump is irresistible’. Zurvan proudly pulled out his decades old helmet from the trunk and went out on the maiden ride with his maiden. A Classic example of – behind every die hard spirit of a man, there is a woman. Only, their together name NavZur maintains the old British ‘Ladies First’ protocol.

So here is the duo of Vijay and Zurvan on a casual Sunday morning with their bikes and that Never Say Die attitude whether at work or their other passions.
